FIRE & SECURITY MAINTENANCE FOR THE DUTCH MILL HOTEL AND THE BROADSTRAIK INN

FIRE & SECURITY MAINTENANCE FOR THE DUTCH MILL HOTEL AND THE BROADSTRAIK INN

We recently took over the ongoing maintenance of the fire alarm and intruder alarm systems at The Dutch Mill Hotel in Aberdeen and The Broadstraik Inn in Westhill.

Both venues already had fire and security systems in place, so our role was not to replace equipment unnecessarily. Instead, we took responsibility for keeping the existing systems properly maintained, dealing with faults or changes when required, and providing ongoing technical support.

The systems at both premises were also connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) for 24-hour monitoring.

Taking Over Existing Fire and Security Systems

Changing maintenance provider did not always mean changing the equipment already installed.

When we took responsibility for an existing system, the first step was to understand what was already in place and how it was performing. That gave our engineers a clear picture of the equipment on site, any faults that needed attention and the servicing or maintenance requirements going forward.

Stuart Munro, Company Director, said “Taking over an existing system is about understanding what is already there before recommending any changes. If equipment remains suitable and can be properly supported, there is no reason to replace it simply because the maintenance provider has changed. Our priority is to give the customer reliable ongoing support and deal with issues properly when they arise.”

This approach was particularly useful where a customer had inherited systems after moving into new premises, taken over an existing business, or wanted more consistent support from a different fire and security company.

Fire and Security Maintenance at The Dutch Mill Hotel

The Dutch Mill Hotel on Queen’s Road is a long-established Aberdeen hotel, bar and restaurant, and we were pleased to take over maintenance of its fire alarm and intruder alarm systems.

Hospitality venues are busy environments, and the way they are used can change over time. Staff change, areas of a building may be used differently and alterations can affect how an existing fire or security system needs to operate.

Regular maintenance helped identify faults and other issues before they became bigger problems. Where changes were required, an existing system could also be adapted or upgraded rather than replaced completely.

For The Dutch Mill, our role was to provide that ongoing support and help ensure the systems continued to suit the way the premises was used.

Supporting The Broadstraik Inn in Westhill

We also took over maintenance of the fire alarm and intruder alarm systems at The Broadstraik Inn in Westhill.

Again, the focus was on supporting the systems already installed and providing a reliable point of contact when servicing, faults or future changes needed to be addressed.

In a busy hospitality venue, the way different parts of the building are used can change over time, so the fire and security systems needed to continue to reflect how the premises was actually used.

Taking over the existing installation also meant the customer could change maintenance provider without automatically facing the cost and disruption of installing an entirely new system.

24-Hour Alarm Receiving Centre Monitoring

The systems at both venues were connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre, allowing relevant alarm signals to be monitored around the clock.

The ARC provided the monitoring service, while our role was to maintain and support the fire and security systems installed at the premises.

Where a business already had monitoring in place, changing maintenance provider did not necessarily mean starting again. The existing setup could be reviewed so the monitoring and maintenance arrangements continued to work as they should.

When Existing Systems Needed More Than Routine Servicing

Ongoing maintenance was not just about scheduled service visits.

As premises changed, fire and security systems could need to be adjusted, extended or upgraded. Faults could also develop over time, particularly where equipment had been added or altered at different stages.

We could support existing installations with fault diagnosis, remedial work, system changes and upgrades where required.

The aim was to understand what was already in place and carry out the work that was genuinely needed, rather than assuming the whole system needed to be replaced.

Local Fire and Security Support Across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire

We supported businesses across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and the wider North-East with ongoing fire and security maintenance.

That included fire alarm systems, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control and other existing security systems that needed servicing, fault investigation, upgrades or technical support.

If a business was considering changing maintenance provider, we could review the systems already in place and help establish what support was needed next.
